Ford Mobile Clinic has launched in Malaysia. The initiative, created in collaboration with Yayasan Sime Darby, Ford Philanthropy, and MyFundAction, is in line with the Malaysian government’s efforts to improve healthcare accessibility in rural areas.
The mobile clinic initiative aims to provide basic and essential medical services to underserved communities in the country’s remote areas – particularly in areas such as Kelantan, Perak, Pahang, Selangor, and Negeri Sembilan.
Through Ford Mobile Clinic, MyFundAction will mobilise a network of healthcare professionals and volunteers through the initiative, and play an important role in delivering medical services to remote communities.
Annually, the Ford Mobile Clinic initiative seeks to serve up to 9,000 in agricultural regions, kampungs, and Orang Asli settlements to improve the distribution of healthcare equity.
“Our collaboration with AutoConneXion, Yayasan Sime Darby, and Ford Philanthropy will be transformative, allowing us to drive meaningful change in underserved communities.” Said MyFundAction CEO Dr. Ghafur Rahim Mustakim, “Thanks to our generous partners, we are able to expand access to rural areas, reaching more individuals and families. We are confident that, together, we will empower communities for a brighter future.”
The healthcare services provided by Ford Mobile Clinic includes outpatient care, emergency support, health screenings, group immunisations, infectious disease awareness campaigns, and medication for minor sicknesses. The mobile clinic also promotes health education and proactive health management of its patients.
“Healthcare is a basic human right, yet access remains a challenge, even until today, for many in rural and remote areas due to distance, financial constraints and limited facilities. No one should have to travel long hours and distances to see a doctor nor suffer in silence due to a lack of medical care.” Sime CEO and Governing Council Member of Yayasan Sime Darby Dato’ Jeffri Salim Davidson said.
“We’re honoured to introduce the Ford Mobile Clinic and I look forward to seeing the positive impact this will have on healthcare accessibility and community wellbeing.” Dato’ Jeffri adds.

Yayasan Sime Darby and Sime Darby Auto ConneXion (SDAC), the sole Authorised Ford distributor in Malaysia, has donated a Ford Ranger for the initiative. Furthermore, Ford Philanthropy has also donated USD55,000 (approx. RM244k) to fund the pickup’s setup, modification, and operational costs of the mobile clinic.
SDAC will also be facilitating and coordinating additional support for Ford Mobile Clinic, as part of Ford Philanthropy’s community outreach programme.
Ford Philanthropy Senior Manager Jane Holloway said, “We remain steadfast in our mission to support community welfare, including assisting communities during floods and disaster relief. Our goal is to reach more communities, ensuing that no one is beyond the reach of healthcare services. By working hand in hand with our local partners, this initiative will bridge gaps in community health, fostering greater equity and improving health access nationwide.”
