Tesla V4 Supercharger station now open in The Gardens Mall – for Tesla cars only, RM1.13/kWh

The Gardens Mall in Kuala Lumpur is now outfitted with four new Tesla V4 Superchargers and one Destination Charger. The inclusion of the new chargers will offer more convenience to Tesla owners within the area, while they run errands inside the shopping centre.

Located within the car park (Level B1, Zone B), the new Tesla V4 Superchargers currently support up to 250 kW DC charging at RM1.13 charged per kWh. In addition, an idle fee of RM4 per minute will be incurred if your vehicle is not removed when charging is complete. However, the idle fee will only be applicable if the charging station is at 100% capacity.

When charging with the Tesla V4 Supercharger, Tesla says that both the Model 3 and recently-updated Model Y can gain up to 282 km of range in just 15 minutes of charging.

Meanwhile, the single Tesla Destination Charger will deliver 11 kW AC charging, and is currently free to use for all Tesla vehicles until further notice.

With the addition of these new charging points, Tesla’s Supercharger network in Malaysia currently sits at 14 Supercharging stations with 64 Superchargers, and 15 Destination Charging stations with 70 chargers.

As of now, Tesla has situated these charging stations largely in urban areas, with the exception of the Shell Station R&R in Skudai, Johor that is fitted with four V4 Superchargers and two Destination Chargers. Tesla promises that they will be adding more chargers to provide extensive coverage throughout the country.

Currently, Tesla Superchargers and Destination Chargers are only available for use with Tesla electric vehicles only. That could change later this year, however, as per the agreement with the government as part of the BEV Global Leaders initiative Tesla will be required to open up 30% of its DC fast chargers for public use with other EV makes and models.

With 64 Superchargers, Tesla Malaysia has now fulfilled the government’s requirement for 50 “ultra fast chargers” (over 180 kW capacity), to be built within three years.
