Video: 2025 Denza D9 electric MPV in Malaysia – the new MPV king?

It seems like the Toyota Alphard is about to get even more company, as the fully electric (EV) Denza D9 has just been launched in Malaysia. Two variants are available for the Denza D9 in Malaysia: Advance and Premium. Prices start at RM259,000 on-the-road, without insurance.

As with most luxury MPVs in this segment, the Denza D9’s exterior design might not turn heads. After all, there’s only so much you can do to make a boxy MPV stand out. However, the D9 does have a few unique touches, like the π (Pi) Motion front grille and Arrow Taillights, both of which give it a distinct look.

But inside, that’s where the Denza D9 shines. The main party trick here is the 6.8-litre fridge, which can keep your drinks and snacks cool (or even frozen!) at temperatures between -6 to 50 degrees Celsius.

Passengers can also enjoy the luxurious captain’s chairs in the second row, with 1.08 meters of fore-aft adjustability—the most in its segment, according to Denza. And if that’s not enough, there are also integrated 5.5-inch screens on both captain’s chairs, allowing passengers to control various vehicle settings and seat functions.

The Denza D9 is available in front-wheel drive (FWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) configurations. The FWD Advance variant has an electric motor delivering 313 hp and 360 Nm, with an NEDC range of 600 km. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.5 seconds.

The AWD Premium variant adds a rear motor for a combined output of 374 hp and 470 Nm, with a slightly reduced range of 580 km (NEDC). It does reaches 0-100 km/h faster, in 6.9 seconds.

Both variants have a 103.36 kWh Blade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack. DC fast charging at 166 kW enables a 30-80% charge in 30 minutes, while 10 minutes of charging adds 150 km of range. AC charging is supported at 11 kW.

So, will you be ditching the Toyota Alphard for the Denza D9? Or perhaps the Zeekr 009, with its whopping 612 hp and 693 Nm, has caught your eye?
