Android Auto is now finally available in the 2024 Proton X70‘s infotainment system via a new over-the-air (OTA) software update. With this OTA update, the X70 facelift now finally has the complete Android Auto/Apple CarPlay (AACP) functionalities, which Proton has promised since the model’s launch in August last year.
Apple CarPlay was made available on the new Proton X70 facelift in October 2024, also through a OTA software update. Both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support wireless connectivity on the Proton X70, although you can still use a wire if you prefer.
To update the infotainment system on the 2024 Proton X70, follow these steps according to their tutorial video:
STEP 1:
- On the 12.3-inch touchscreen, select the app list icon at the bottom-right corner.
- Select ‘Settings’.
- Navigate to the ‘System’ menu and select ‘Software Update’.
- Select ‘Vehicle Software Update’.
- Begin the package download while the car’s engine is still running.
- Once the package is fully downloaded, select ‘Install now’ and keep the engine running while software installation occurs.
- Wait for the touchscreen to reboot until the home screen is displayed.
STEP 2:
- To verify the software version, select the app list icon again.
- Select ‘Settings’.
- Select ‘System’ and ‘System Information’.
- Select ‘About IHU’.
- Make sure the latest system version is ‘SWRRBA11210H1156’.
- To finalise the system installation process, select ‘Reset Factory Settings’ in the ‘System Information’ menu.
STEP 3:
- Connect your Android device via USB or Bluetooth.
- Select the Android Auto icon at the home screen.
The facelifted 2024 Proton X70 is available in four variants: Standard, Executive, Premium, and Premium X. On-the-road without insurance, the Standard is priced at RM98,800, Executive at RM110,800, Premium at RM123,800, and Premium X at RM126,800.
All variants are powered by a turbocharged inline-three petrol 1.5-litre TGDI engine, producing 177 hp and 255 Nm of torque that results in doing 0-100 km/h in 9.8 seconds.
