JPJ offers special RM150 flat-rate compound for 3 traffic offences, starting today for 6 months

The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has announced a special offer for traffic offence payments, reducing the compound amount down to a flat rate of RM150 for a six-month period, starting today on January 3, 2025 until June 30, 2025.

According to Minister of Transport Anthony Loke, the special compound payment is applicable to only three types of traffic offences, namely Summons 53a (AwAS Summons) for exceeding the speed limit or running red lights, Notice 114 (Interview Notice), and Notice 115 (Sticker Summons Notice).

Payment for the reduced summonses can be made through channels such as JPJ counters and kiosks, public portals, and the MyJPJ app, but not via MyEG or Pos Malaysia, says Loke.

Loke adds that there are over two million outstanding AwAS summonses currently, and the special rate will encourage traffic offenders with unpaid summonses to pay them promptly or face being unable to renew their driving or motor vehicle licences.

“The regular compound rate for these three notices is usually RM300. We are introducing this special compound rate for six months, starting Jan 3, to allow people to settle their outstanding summons” he explained.

In addition, the accumulation of demerit points will also be temporarily suspended during this six-month period. In which the JPJ will take this time to review the system’s implementation.
