Xiaomi’s second model, the YU7 SUV, will bring the roof down with up to 690 hp

Although the Xiaomi SU7’s thunderous Nürburgring record fell between blurred lines, it won’t stop the carmaker from forging ahead with its second model. The Xiaomi YU7 SUV has finally been revealed before its slated mid-2025 debut.

Following a filing on China’s ministry of industry and information technology (MIIT) website, Xiaomi has released the first images of the YU7 on Chinese social media site Weibo. The YU7 will reportedly measure in at 4,999 mm long, 1,996 mm wide and 1,600 mm tall whilst retaining the same 3,000 mm wheelbase as the SU7.

Xiaomi didn’t seem to strive for the YU7 to adopt its own design language. Instead, if you imagined an SUV version of the SU7, nine out of 10 people would conjure up an image of the YU7 without having seen it first.

From the headlights to the bumper intakes and even the C-shaped taillights linked at the bottom, everything is taken from the SU7 and adjusted to fit. The only difference is the addition of black body cladding. In fact, squint a little and you could say the YU7 is heavily inspired by the Ferrari Purosangue, especially with that sloping roofline and the unique wheel arches.

A dual-motor variant with the front delivering 299 hp and the rear pushing 392 hp will give the YU7 a combined 690 hp, good for 253 kph. Expect a larger CATL-sourced nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery than the 101 kWh unit in the SU7 Max if Xiaomi wants to match the sedan’s CLTC range of 800 km. It should weigh in around 2,405 kg.

If sales of the SU7 is anything to go by, Xiaomi could be onto another stellar seller with the YU7. Since its launch in March, the SU7 has exceeded 112,000 units sold in China. The YU7 should go on sale there in mid-2025.
