Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) has just unveiled the sixth-generation Mitsubishi Triton in Malaysia. Available in five variants, prices start at RM101,980 for the new high-rider Single Cab workhorse variant, up to RM165,980 for the Triton Athlete. MMM calls these “introductory prices”, and are available for cars that are registered before December 31, 2024. Final pricing has not been announced yet.
Built on a newly developed ladder frame chassis, the 2024 Triton is larger than its predecessor, with a 130 mm longer wheelbase (now 3,130 mm). Overall dimensions for the range-topping Athlete variant are 5,360 mm long, 1,930 mm wide, and 1,815 mm tall. The cargo bed is also longer, measuring 1,555 mm. Despite the increased size, Mitsubishi says the all-new Triton is actually lighter than the outgoing model.
Mitsubishi’s Dynamic Shield design takes a bolder form on the front end of the sixth-generation Triton model. Slim daytime running lights are accented by black trims connecting the main headlight assembly to the fog lamps below. The boxy design, with its blocky wheel arches, reflects a utilitarian and rugged aesthetic. Double cab variants features a new tail light design with a T-shaped lighting signature.
The new Mitsubishi Triton also features several functional improvements over the outgoing model. These include more durable door handles which are bigger and easier to grip, wider side steps with improved water drainage, a lower cargo bed height, and a larger upper surface area of the rear bumper.
Standard exterior equipment on the 2024 Mitsubishi Triton Single Cab workhorse variant include:

Mirroring the more robust exterior design exterior, the 2024 Triton’s interior features a blocky, edgy dashboard. However, Mitsubishi has also emphasised on its “SUV-inspired” comfort inside, highlighted by the new touchscreen infotainment display offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. For easy access to vehicle functions, a row of toggle switches sits below the climate controls. The steering wheel sports a new design, with the lower spokes now pointing downwards instead of outwards as in the previous model.
As you’d expect, most of the interior appointments are reserved for the double cab variants only. Starting with the GL, interior equipment on the 2024 Mitsubishi Triton include:

Powering the 2024 Mitsubishi Triton is a newly developed four-cylinder turbodiesel engine, codenamed 4N16. It is available in two power outputs, with only the Athlete receiving the higher-performance variant featuring a MIVEC two-stage turbo.

The Mitsubishi Triton Athlete is uniquely the only variant to gain an electric power steering system, contributing to the range-topping variant’s added comfort. Nevertheless, the manual transmission has now been switched to a shift-by-wire system to reduce vibrations within the cabin.
In addition to the Super Select II 4WD system, the Athlete also gains a new Active Yaw Control system that helps with the pikcup truck’s agility especially in slippery and loose surfaces. The brake-controlled “active” limited slip differential however is standard across all variants.
All variants of the 2024 Mitsubishi Triton comes with a standard set of passive safety equipment, including three airbags, active stability control, hill start assist, ABS with EBD, as well as brake assist.
