The new 2024 Proton X50 has amassed over 8,000 bookings within its first month on sale since its official launch in June. With demand “far [exceeding]” the national carmaker’s expectations, Proton has announced that it will be ramping up production of the B-segment SUV in order to expedite the delivery timeline for its customers.
Since its original debut in 2020, the Proton X50 has been Malaysia’s best-selling SUV model, with 115,262 units sold up to June this year. The model has also been exported to 12 countries worldwide, and collectively, the model has now covered over 4.1 billion kilometres – enough to circle the earth more than 100,000 times.
Commenting on the exceptional reception to the model, Proton Edar CEO Roslan Abdullah said, “We are thrilled to see such exceptional booking numbers in the first month alone, which demonstrates the strong appeal of the 2024 Proton X50.”
“We understand the excitement and anticipation surrounding the 2024 Proton X50, and we want to assure our customers that we are doing everything possible to meet their expectations,” he added.
Additionally, the company reaffirms that all customers who are entitled for the early bird promotion, most notably the RM7,000 cash discount for the first 5,000 bookings made, will all still receive the benefits accordingly.
While many would have hoped for a proper “facelift” to the model, the updated 2024 Proton X50 has evidently still garnered significant interests from Malaysians. Among the key upgrades on the 2024 Proton X50 are the improved comfort levels within the cabin, courtesy of the new NVH package that boasts over 20 different enhancements.
All variants of the 2024 Proton X50 are also now equipped with the 10.3-inch infotainment head unit, featuring an upgraded processor for faster boot-up and loading times. The 360-degree camera has been upgraded for better clarity and improved 3D displays, while the Premium and Flagship variants also now come with a powered tailgate as standard.
