Following the launch of the all-new Peugeot 408 in Malaysia last month, the company has now kicked off deliveries of the fastback crossover at the recent Malaysia Autoshow 2024. Among the first 10 owners of the Peugeot 408 in Malaysia is the French Ambassador to Malaysia, His Excellency Axel Cruau, who has chosen the Peugeot 408 GT as the official embassy vehicle.
The Peugeot 408 has already recorded over 300 bookings in Malaysia thus far, with 60% of them for the GT variant, 22% for the Premium, and 18% for the entry-level Allure, the company says in a statement.
Commenting at the delivery event, Stellantis Malaysia Managing Director, Jamie Francis Morais said, “Today marks the starting point in the Peugeot 408 story as we begin delivering customer orders. The feedback and response have been positive, and we look forward to maintaining and keeping up with the momentum of the 408. We are also pleased to celebrate our first 10 owners and we welcome them and future 408 owners to the Peugeot family.”
On the all-new 408, Peugeot has completely ditched the model’s past as a C-segment sedan, to now become a fastback crossover which the company says “defies categorisation”. Size wise, the Peugeot 408 also measures larger than most C-segment sedan models, but still slightly smaller than proper C-segment SUVs such as the Honda CR-V.
