GAC’s official distributor in Malaysia, WTC Automotif, has launched the GAC Aion Y Plus. Priced from RM119,800, the all-electric SUV is offered in two variants.
- GAC Aion Y Plus Elite – RM119,800
- GAC Aion Y Plus Premium – RM135,800

Dimension-wise, the GAC Aion Y Plus measures 4,535 mm long, 1,870 mm wide, and 1,650 mm tall, and is underpinned by a 2,750 mm long wheelbase. This makes it about as big as the Honda BR-V.
On the outside, the GAC Aion Y Plus in Malaysia comes with standard features such as the “Angel’s Wing” LED headlights with seven horizontal light bars, LED taillights, and 17-inch alloys. It also comes with electric flush door handles.

Powering the GAC Aion Y Plus in Malaysia is a front-mounted single electric motor setup that makes 204 hp and 225 Nm. The electric motor is paired with GAC Aion’s proprietary Magazine 2.0 lithium-ion phosphate (LFP) battery pack, which the brand says is the world’s first Magazine Battery Safety Technology with no incidents of ignition or explosion, making it the safest battery technology in the world right now, setting a new standard for safety performance.

Standard equipment includes a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.6-inch touchscreen infotainment display, a 6-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, and a leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel.

To recap, the GAC Aion Y Plus EV SUV has made its launch in Malaysia with a starting price of RM119,800. Deliveries for the Elite variant will begin in June 2024, while customers of the Premium variant will start receiving their cars in July 2024.
Included with the GAC Aion Y Plus’ price tag is an 8-year/160,000 km vehicle warranty. Also included is an 8-year/200,000 km warranty for the EV battery, drive motor, and electric control systems.
WTC Automotif is offering an early bird offer for the first 200 customers who drop a booking for the GAC Aion Y Plus. The rewards include a free 7 kW home wall box charger worth RM3,500, as well as RM1,000 worth of JomCharge charging credits.
