2024 Kia EV9 launched in Malaysia, from RM370k – 505km range, 6/7-seater variants



Kia’s official distributor in Malaysia, Dinamikjaya Motors has just launched the 2024 Kia EV9 here in the country. Fully imported (CBU) from South Korea, the all-electric SUV is available in two variants and is priced from RM369,668 (OTR, without insurance).

  • Kia EV9 GT-Line 6-Seater – RM374,668

Having won the 2024 World Car of the Year and 2024 World Electric Vehicle awards, the Kia EV9 is built on the Korean carmaker’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). Dimension-wise, the all-electric SUV measures 5,015 mm long, 1,980 mm wide, and 1,780 mm tall, and is underpinned by a 3,100 mm wheelbase.

At the front, the Kia EV9 wears what the brand calls the “Digital Tiger Face” and “Digital Pattern Lightning Grille”, giving it a rather futuristic look to match its electric vehicle (EV) identity. Speaking of futuristic, the EV9 also comes with a pair of digital side-view cameras. As its name suggests, the EV9 in Malaysia is offered in the GT-Line guise for a sportier look.

A total of five colour options can be had with the Kia EV9. This consists of Ocean Blue, Snow White Pearl, Pebble Grey, Aurora Black Pearl, and Iceberg Green.

Powering both variants of the Kia EV9 in Malaysia is the same dual-motor all-wheel drive setup that pushes out 380 hp and 700 Nm. Thanks to its 99.8 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, the all-electric SUV’s range is rated at 505 km (WLTP).

Charging-wise, the Kia EV9 can be charged via DC charging at a maximum rate of 350 kW. AC charging can also be done at a maximum rate of 11 kW.

Inside, as their names suggest, the Kia EV9 GT-Line 7-Seater variant comes with seven seats in a 2-3-2 layout, while the more premium 6-Seater variant comes with six seats in a 2-2-2 layout, featuring two individual ”premium relaxion“ seats in the second row. In terms of their kit list, both variants come with similar equipment, such as leatherette seats, a twin 12.3-inch display set-up, dual-zone automatic aircon, and a 14-speaker Meridian sound system.

On the safety side of things, the Kia EV9 in Malaysia is equipped with a list of active safety features. Among the features included are such as smart cruise control (SCC) with Stop & Go functionality, forward collision-avoidance assist (FCA), rear cross-traffic collision avoidance assist (RCCA), and remote smart parking assist (RSPA).
