Brabus thinks you need 930 hp in a Mercedes-Benz S-Class

Sure, there’s been a couple of AMG models over the years, but for the most part, a Mercedes-Benz S-Class is designed to ferry around the super-rich in ultimate luxury. For some inexplicable reason, though, Brabus thought that it’ll be a good idea to give the luxobarge 930 hp. Yes – nine hundred and thirty.

Dubbed simply the Brabus 930, the freak of nature takes the already silly Mercedes-AMG S63 E Performance and brings it all the way up to hypercar-level output – 930 hp and 1,510 Nm. With this much power, the Brabus 930 can accelerate to 100 km/h from a standstill in just 3.2 seconds, even though it weighs some 2.6 tonnes.

That’s only a 0.1 second reduction over the standard S63, but with a reworked electronic speed limiter, the Brabus 930 can unleash all of its horses all the way up to 290 km/h. And as (we assume) the rich people would say, big number good.

Aside from the performance uplift, the Brabus 930 also comes fitted with a valve-controlled stainless-steel exhaust system with quad carbon/titanium tailpipes, so you can properly hear the V8 rumble… assuming the car is not in electric mode, of course. An electronically-adjustable suspension system is also available, which can lower the car by up to 10 mm depending on driving mode.

As with any Brabus model, the new 930 is also littered with a large swath of exposed carbon fibre trims on the outside, all to give the spiced-up luxobarge a “one-second-wow factor” as the company likes to call it. You’ll find the usual suspects here, like the front bumpers, rear diffuser, and a discreet ducktail spoiler at the back, but what’s unique here is the “RamAir” intakes on the grille – which Brabus says is fine-tuned in a wind tunnel along with its other new exterior trims – that helps swallow more air for the engine.

All of these are paired to a new 22-inch Brabus Monoblock ZM “Platinum Edition” forged wheels, featuring 20 spokes and a classy blacked-out centre disc – because it’s an S-Class after-all, right?

The interior of the Brabus 930 has also been re-trimmed with “high-grade leather”, finished in black here (as standard; you can customise yours to your own liking, of course) to match its carbon fibre trimmings on the inside. The seat base gets the signature Seashell Diamond quilting pattern, but the special bit is on its sides, thanks to the repeating “77” motif as a nod to the company’s 1977 founding year.

Pricing for the Brabus 930 starts at EUR479,889 (approx RM2.5 million), which is quite a significant increase over the base Mercedes-AMG S 63 E Performance. But hey, since when do luxury items make any sense?
