2024 Mercedes-AMG S63 teased for Malaysia, to debut in April

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has just put out a teaser, hinting at a few new models that are coming into Malaysia, and this includes the Mercedes-AMG S63 E Performance. Alongside the S63, the German carmaker will also be bringing in the Mercedes-Benz GLS facelift and the Mercedes-Maybach GLS, which will all be making their official debut in Malaysia from April 3 to 7 at the brand’s showroom at Bangsar.

Having made its global debut back in 2022, the Mercedes-AMG S63 E Performance is by far the most powerful S-Class sedan ever made yet. It is powered by a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain that features a 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine, paired with a rear-mounted electric motor.

The engine itself makes 612 hp (metric) and 900 Nm, while the electric motor pushes out 190 hp (metric) and 320 Nm on its own. Combined, the PHEV system makes 802 hp (metric) and 1,430 Nm. Supplying power to the rear electric motor is a 13.1 kWh battery pack which can be charged via AC at a maximum rate of 3.7 kW, giving the S63 an all-electric range of 33 km.

Power is sent to all four wheels via the brand’s AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive (AWD) system and an AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9G transmission. This enables the luxury sedan to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds, and achieve a top speed of 290 km/h (250 km/h with electronic speed limiter).

Currently in Malaysia, the sole S-Class variant available is the Mercedes-Benz S580e which is proudly assembled in Pekan. The luxury sedan can be yours at a starting price of RM718,888.
