Mercedes-Benz C300 discontinued in Malaysia, replaced by C350e PHEV

The mild-hybrid (MHEV) Mercedes-Benz C 300 has been discontinued from Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s C-Class lineup. It is now replaced by the C 350 e plug-in hybrid (PHEV) which is now officially open for bookings in Malaysia at an estimated price of RM355,000.

First introduced in Malaysia as a fully imported (CBU) model from Germany in February 2022, the locally assembled (CKD) Mercedes-Benz C 300 was later introduced in August 2022. It was sold alongside the also locally-assembled Mercedes-Benz C 200.

Unlike the newly introduced Mercedes-Benz C 350 e, the C 300 was a mild hybrid which meant that the engine received assistance from an electric system, but could not be charged via external sources. The mild hybrid system also meant that the C 300 had no significant pure electric range.

Powering the Mercedes-Benz C 300 AMG Line is a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes 258 hp and 400 Nm. The engine is part of a 48V mild hybrid system. Paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission, the Mercedes-Benz C 300 launches from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.0 seconds.

On the outside, the CKD C 300 looks more aggressive than the C 350 e as it was equipped with the larger and more aggressive 19-inch AMG multi-spoke alloy wheels. It also had more chrome trims which made it look more elegant.

Inside, both the Mercedes-Benz C 300 and C 350 e for Malaysia are similarly equipped with an AMG Line steering wheel and an identical cabin layout. Both variants are equipped with a panoramic sunroof.

When it was first introduced as a CKD model in August 2022, the C 300 fetched a price of RM327,888. The price was later bumped to RM333,888. The C 350 e now brings the range-topping non-AMG C-Class’s price to an estimated RM355,000.
