Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the Mercedes-Benz EQA facelift and EQB facelift together, following the introduction of the updated A-Class and its related models. The changes to the exterior are subtle, but the company has managed to significantly increase the electric range of both models without upsizing the battery capacity.
First things first, the exteriors of both the EQA and EQB now feature an updated design of the front black panel. Previously featuring slight chrome trims, the black panel designs for both the EQA and EQB now match the ones on its bigger siblings. The black panel now comes with the mini tri-point stars as standard, albeit in black. It is only on the Electric Art and AMG Line variants that gets chrome mini tri-point stars.

Other updates to the exterior include new bumpers which Mercedes-Benz says gives the cars a wider appearance. As for the AMG Line EQA, it now gets body-coloured claddings. On the outside, aerodynamic improvements have been made such as the new leading edge for the rear wheel arch, a ridge that functions as a spoiler which has been integrated into the taillights, and rolling-resistance-optimised tyres. One small cosmetic enhancement to the EQA and EQB would be the new design on the insides of the taillights.
On the inside of the EQA and EQB, they both now get the latest Mercedes-Benz steering wheel with capacitive controls. What is standard now on the inside is the 10.25-inch head unit for all variants. Paired with the 10.25-inch head unit is a twin screen that serves as the digital instrument cluster. The cabin layout remains largely the same with new mini Mercedes-Benz patterns (backlit and not backlit).

The most significant update to the EQA and EQB would be their electric range. And before we get into that, here are the variants on offer upon introduction of the facelifted EQA:
- EQA 250
- EQA 350+
- EQA 300 4MATIC
- EQA 350 4MATIC
As for the EQB, the variants on offer are as such:
- EQB 250+
- EQB 300 4MATIC
- EQB 350 4MATIC

In Malaysia, the EQA is only available in the guise of the EQA 250. Upon launch in Malaysia, it was listed with an official range of 429 km (WLTP), but an update in January bumped this up to 496 km (WLTP). Now with the facelift, the EQA 250 is listed with up to 528 km of range (WLTP), which is a 32 km increase. Interestingly, the battery capacity remains the same at 66.5 kWh, so all the extra range is due to better aerodynamics and a better battery management system.
As for the rest of the range of the EQA, the EQA 250+ has a WLTP range of up to 560 km, while the EQA 300 4MATIC and EQA 350 4MATIC are both listed with 459 km.
As for the performance figures, the maximum power output and torque of the EQA 250 remains the same at 190 hp (metric) and 385 Nm. The performance figures of the rest of the EQA variants are listed in the table below:
EQA 250 | EQA 350+ | EQA 300 4MATIC | EQA 350 4MATIC
Drivetrain | FWD | FWD | AWD | AWD |
Max. Power (hp metric) | 190 | 190 | 228 | 292 |
Max. Torque (Nm) | 385 | 385 | 390 | 520 |
Battery capacity (kWh) | 66.5 | 70.5 | 66.5 | 66.5 |
WLTP range (km) | 528 | 560 | 459 | 459 |
Max. AC charging rate (kW) | 11 | 11 | 11 | 11 |
Max. DC charging rate (kW) | 100 | 100 | 100 | 100 |
No increase has been made in terms of the charging rate as both AC and DC maximum charging rates remain at 11 kW and 100 kW respectively. An improvement in terms of charging is the new Plug & Charge function which is something not related to Malaysian customers.

As for the Mercedes-Benz EQB, it is only sold as the EQB 250 4MATIC in Malaysia. The facelifted EQB 350’s range is listed at 448 km, which is a 25 km increase from the outgoing version’s 423 km. Like the EQA, the battery capacity remains the same at 66.5 kWh.
Sharing the same range and battery capacity with the EQB 350 4MATIC is the EQB 300 4MATIC. The EQB 250+ gets a bigger battery pack. Performance of the EQB 250 4MATIC remains the same at 292 hp and 520 Nm. The performance of the entire EQB lineup is listed below:
EQB 250+ | EQB 300 4MATIC | EQB 350 4MATIC
Drivetrain | FWD | AWD | AWD |
Max. Power (hp metric) | 190 | 228 | 292 |
Max. Torque (Nm) | 385 | 390 | 520 |
Battery capacity (kWh) | 70.5 | 66.5 | 66.5 |
WLTP range (km) | 536 | 448 | 448 |
Max. AC charging rate (kW) | 11 | 11 | 11 |
Max. DC charging rate (kW) | 100 | 100 | 100 |

In the safety department, both the EQA and EQB get:
- Improved sensor technology
- A new mono multipurpose camera
- A new backup camera
- An improved driving assistance package (Active Lane Keeping Assist now works more comfortably with steering intervention instead of ESP)
With both the EQA and EQB offered in Malaysia, albeit in single variants, the updated versions might just reach our shores soon.
