Chery Malaysia sold 4,501 cars in 4 months – 4 new models planned for 2024

In a press briefing earlier today, Chery Malaysia announced that it has delivered a total of 4,501 cars throughout 2023. Registrations for the Chery Omoda 5 and Tiggo 8 Pro only begun in September, after the company completed its first pre-delivery inspections (PDI) at the end of August, which means Chery Malaysia achieved the impressive figures within just four months officially on the market.

According to Chery Malaysia vice president Lee Wen Hsiang, more than 80% of its sales can be attributed to the Omoda 5.

During the year, the company has also grown its dealership and aftersales network to a total of 32 outlets now, comprising 18 3S and 4S centres, and 14 1S/2S. The company plans to further extend its coverage up to 48 outlets by the end of 2024,with 16 new 3S/4S centres planned.

For 2024, the company will be introducing four new models into its model line-up in Malaysia, including the recently-previewed Chery Omoda E5, the new Tiggo 7 Pro, likely the Omoda 5 GT, and a budget-focused “volume” product that is said to be priced under the RM100k mark – we believe the latter will be the Chery Tiggo 4 Pro that was first previewed in Malaysia back in 2022.

The company says that the new Jaecoo sub-brand, which is set to make its official debut in Malaysia some time this year, will be operating as a separate entity to Chery with no shared facilities, and as such the Jaecoo J7 should not be included in this list.

The company did not reveal any sales targets for 2024, merely stating that its deliveries will grow in tandem with the increase of its production capacity, and it is focusing on delivering “improved customer experience” first and foremost. The company recently furthered its investment into its local production line at the Inokom factory in Kulim, Kedah.
