The Chery Omoda 5 line-up in Indonesia has just been expanded with the introduction of the new Omoda 5 GT, marking the more powerful model’s ASEAN debut. Pricing for the Chery Omoda 5 GT ranges between IDR448.8 million (approx. RM136k) to IDR488.8 million (approx RM148k).
Unlike the standard Omoda 5, the GT model packs a 1.6-litre turbocharged inline-four engine underneath its bonnet, which is paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission to supply some 200 hp and 290 Nm – or 43 hp and 50 Nm more than the standard 1.5T mill – to the wheels. The Chery Omoda 5 GT is also available with an all-wheel drive drivetrain, in addition to the usual front-wheel drive.
To complement its newfound performance, the new Chery Omoda 5 GT also gets a new multi-link suspension at the rear axle, which should help improve its road handling characteristics.

Differentiating the GT from the regular Chery Omoda 5 are the new orange accents on the outside (as opposed to red on the Omoda 5 H), as well as the ‘290T’ badging on the rear hatch denoting its torque output figures. Inside, the centre console now gets a gloss black surface trim, as opposed to the sandblasted look on the standard car.
In terms of equipment, the new Chery Omoda 5 GT in Indonesia gains an additional driver monitoring system via cameras mounted on the steering rack, as well as a new 50 watt wireless phone charger (AWD variant). The Omoda 5 GT has also gained a new “Normal” driving mode, in addition to “Eco” and “Sport”, alongside the additional “Snow”, “Mud”, and “Off-road” driving modes for the AWD Variant.
Chery Malaysia has previously confirmed that the 1.6-litre turbocharged variant of the Omoda 5 will indeed be making its introduction here, although specific timeframes haven’t been provided.
Currently, the Chery Omoda 5 is available in two variants, the Omoda 5 C and 5 H, priced from RM108,800. Both variants are powered by the 1.5-litre turbocharged inline-four engine and CVT combination with 157 hp and 230 Nm.
