With bookings open since November 1, 2023, the Proton S70 is showing great popularity with Malaysian motorists with over 3,000 bookings already received so far. Upon its launch last week, Proton announced that the S70 had received 1,200 bookings. In just a week, that number has exceeded 3,000.
If you didn’t know it yet, the Proton S70 was launched with 4 variants – Executive, Premium, Flagship, and Flagship X. Prices start at RM73,800 for the base Executive variant and top off at RM94,800 for the range-topping Flagship X model. Proton also offered attractive early bird packages for the first 3,000 customers.

The Proton S70 is the first Proton sedan to debut since the Proton-Geely partnership. It follows the naming convention of the three SUVs from the company – the X50, X70, and X90. As you can tell by the numbers in its name, Proton refers to the S70 as a C-segment saloon, although it mainly rivals B-segment saloons in Malaysia like the Toyota Vios.
All 4 variants of the Proton S70 are powered by the same 1.5-litre turbocharged MPI engine that you find in lower variants of the X50. It makes 150 hp (metric) and 226 Nm. Paired with a 7-speed DCT, power is sent to the front wheels only. There are no official numbers for the S70’s 0-100 km/h acceleration times and fuel consumption.

Included with the Proton S70’s price tag is a 5-year/unlimited mileage manufacturer warranty, 6 times free labour service, financing interest rates from 2.34% pa, and the Proton insurance programme. There is also a 5-year data package with 1GB per month for the Flagship and Flagship X variants only.
The early bird package for the first 3,000 customers for cars registered by February 29 (which you have probably missed out on) includes a(n) RM500 service voucher for the Premium and Flagship variants only, an aero kit worth RM3,130 for the Flagship variant only, as well as an upgraded Proton insurance programme which comes with complimentary first-year Special Perils coverage.
