It seems like Mercedes-Benz Malaysia will be launching one more car in the country before 2023 comes to an end. The company has dropped a teaser of the car’s launch on its social media page, which will be taking place this coming Thursday (December 6, 2023). Looking at Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s current line-up, it looks like the car in question is the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV – the last model to complete the EQ electric series puzzle in Malaysia. Registration of Interest (ROI) for the car has also been open since June this year.
The teaser image shared by Mercedes-Benz Malaysia shows the EQE SUV hiding within the shadow. However, the electric SUV can be seen wearing a set of AMG wheels.

Currently, it is still not known if the EQE SUV will be coming with more than one variant when it launches here. But considering that the rest of the EQ series that was launched in Malaysia previously were all offered with a sole variant only, we believe history will repeat itself for the upcoming Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV.
Globally, the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV is available in four variants. This includes the EQE SUV 300, the EQE SUV 350+, the EQE SUV 350 4MATIC, and the EQE SUV 500 4MATIC. The EQE SUV is also available in even more aggressive forms, namely the Mercedes-AMG EQE SUV 43 4MATIC and the Mercedes-AMG EQE SUV 53 4MATIC+, which are both different cars altogether, despite sharing similar exterior designs.

The entry-level Mercedes-Benz EQE 300 SUV is fitted with a rear-mounted electric drive system that powers the rear wheels, providing 245 hp and 550 Nm. One step up, the EQE 350+ SUV is powered by an electric drive system that pushes out 292 hp and 565 Nm to the rear wheels.
The EQE 350 4MATIC is equipped with an additional front electric drive system, resulting in 292 hp and 765 Nm being sent to all four wheels. At the top of the range is the EQE 500 4MATIC which features a dual motor set-up, pushing 408 hp and 858 Nm to all four wheels.

All variants of the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV are powered by a 90.6 kWh 10-module battery pack. As a result, the EQE 350+ SUV is rated with a WLTP range of 590 km. The EQE 350 4MATIC SUV and EQE 500 4MATIC SUV on the other hand can travel as far as 558 km and 547 km respectively.
When the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV runs out of juice, it can be charged at a maximum DC rate of 170 kW. This can give up to 220 km of range back to the car in just 15 minutes.
The car can also be charged at an AC rate of 11 kW standard, or 22 kW as an option. The EQE SUV in Malaysia may get the 22 kW AC charging as standard, considering that was the case with the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV 580 that was recently launched in Malaysia.

Let’s talk about how the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV looks, shall we? If you have seen the EQS SUV before, the EQE SUV will look pretty familiar to you, as it essentially looks like a shrunken-down version of its bigger brother. Dimension-wise, the EQE SUV measures 4,863 mm long, 1,940 mm wide, and 1,686 mm tall, making it slightly more petite than the BMW X5.
Up front, Mercedes-Benz has fitted the EQE SUV with the EQ signature black panel grille, which is also available with the optional Mercedes-Benz pattern. Also included is the LED High-Performance headlamps which come as standard, as well as the optional Digital Light unit.

In other markets, customers can also opt for equipment such as running boards and flush-fitting door handles if they so choose. However, if these kits are to be included with the EQE SUV in Malaysia, they might come as standard items. In other markets, the EQE SUV can be opted for with wheel sizes ranging from 19 to 22 inches.
Based on the teaser image released by Mercedes-Benz Malaysia, the wheel fitted onto the car looks to be the 21-inch AMG option, which is globally available with the EQE 350 4MATIC and EQE 500 4MATIC SUV. Could this be an indication of which variant we will be getting here in Malaysia?
Inside, the Mercedes-Benz EQE 350 4MATIC and EQE 500 4MATIC SUV both come with the brand’s signature MBUX Hyperscreen. There is also the Neotex structure that combines the look of Nubuck leather and high-tech neoprene.

On the safety front, the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV is equipped with standard advanced safety features such as Attention Assist, Active Brake Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Parking Package, and Speed Limit Assist.
Other safety features included with the Assistance Package such as the Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC, and Blind Spot Assist are also included.

Customers can also opt for the optional Driving Assistance Plus Package which adds on Intersection start-off function, Active Steering Assist, Active Lane Change Assist, Active Emergency Stop Assist, Active Brake Assist with cross-traffic function, Evasive Steering Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, PRE-SAFE PLUS, and PRE-SAFE Impulse Side.
Currently, the Mercedes-Benz EQ electric series lineup consists of the EQA 250, EQB 350 4MATIC, EQC 400 4MATICAMG Line, EQE 350+, EQS 450+, and the recently launched EQS SUV 580 4MATIC.
