Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has launched the fully-electric Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV in Malaysia, following the launch of 5 electric models. The Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV is sold in a single variant only in Malaysia – the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV 580 4MATIC which fetches a price of RM699,888.
Based on its name alone, you can already tell it is an SUV version of the EQS saloon, albeit with a 7-seater configuration. Exterior highlights that it shares with the EQS saloon include the Digital Lights headlight technology, continuous light design, flush door handles, and rear wheel steering. Propelling the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV is a dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) system that makes 544 hp and 858 Nm. That translates to a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 210 km/h.
Power is sourced from a 108.4 kWh battery pack which provides the EQS SUV 580 with 615 km of range (WLTP). Most significant in terms of battery and charging is the 22 kW AC charging capability which comes as standard on the EQS SUV 580. This means that it only takes 5 hours to fully charge if you have the necessary equipment to do so at home. DC charging can be done at a maximum rate of 200 kW and this charges the car from 10% to 80% in 31 minutes.
As for safety, the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV is equipped with Distronic Plus which is essentially adaptive cruise control, and also Driving Assistance Package Plus which adds Active Traffic Jam Assist, additional sensors, and pre-safe impulse side protection.
Also equipped on the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV 580 4MATIC are safety features like Active Lane Keeping Assist, active steering assist, evasive manoeuvre support, tyre pressure monitoring system, active parking assistant with PARKTRONIC, and 360° view cameras.
