2023 Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV 580 launched in Malaysia, RM700k – 613km range, 22kW AC charging



The 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV 580 4MATIC has finally been launched in Malaysia. Priced at RM699,888, on-the-road, and without insurance, the car made its first appearance in Malaysia at this year’s Merdeka Parade wearing a Merdeka-themed livery. And now, for the first time here in Malaysia, the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV is able to be seen in its actual form.

On the outside, the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV sports a gloss black front grille, LED headlights, and chrome faux skid plate elements. The Malaysian-spec EQS SUV also comes with the brand’s AMG Line package.

This includes the signature bone-shaped wide air intakes up front, larger two-tone aerodynamic wheels, faux exhaust tips at the back, and a series of extra gloss black elements. Also included with the AMG Line trim are the 22-inch AMG multi-spoke wheels.

Performance-wise, the Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 4MATIC features a dual-motor setup that sends power to all four wheels. This results in a total output of 544 hp (metric) and 858 Nm. Thanks to its 108.4 kWh lithium-ion battery, the EV SUV is capable of carrying you as far as 615 km (WLTP) on a single charge.

When the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV runs out of juice, it can be charged at a rate of up to 11 kW AC or 22 kW AC. The former can juice the car up from flat to full in 11 hours, while the latter can do the same in just five fours.

If you need faster charging, the EV SUV can also take up to 220 kW of DC fast charging, which can charge the EQS SUV from 10-80% state of charge in just 31 minutes.

The Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV sits on the same EVA (Electric Vehicle Architecture) platform as the EQS sedan. However, due to the lack of a boot compartment at the back, it is shorter by 91 mm. The EV SUV is also packed with rear-axle steering.

MBUX Hyperscreen is also included as standard here, and it consists of three individual displays that are housed in a single pane of glass that expands from door to door. This includes a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 17.7-inch central display, and a 12.3-inch display for the front passenger.

Also included as standard with the Malaysian-spec Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV 580 4MATIC are a panoramic sliding sunroof and a head-up display.
