Video: Cheapest EV in Malaysia, Neta V at RM100k

There is officially a new cheapest EV for sale in Malaysia and it is the Neta V – launched in one variant only at RM100,000. The car was “soft launched” during the Malaysia Auto Show 2023 and Intro Synergy finally confirmed the Neta V’s pricing.

It is a small electric car, with dimensions slightly larger than a Perodua Myvi. If it helps to give you any context, its wheels are 16 inches in diameter so you can pretty much guess how big it would be in person. This time around, the Neta V debuts with an optional body kit which is part of the optional “EV Starter Package”. What is it like to see in person? Follow us through this quick walkthrough in our video.

If you’re wondering about its battery and range, the Neta V houses a 38.5 kWh battery pack that gives an electric driving range of 380 km on the NEDC test cycle. It isn’t much, but enough for really short urban trips.

As for charging, the Neta V can be charged at a maximum AC charging rate of 6.6 kW (single phase) and a maximum DC charging rate of 100 kW. The former takes 8 hours to fully charge the car while the latter takes 30 minutes to charge the car from 20% to 80%.

Inside, the Neta V features a giant portrait screen with really big icons and big fonts. No Android Auto or Apple CarPlay connectivity here as smartphone connectivity is only via mirror link. The other digital screen inside the Neta V is a 12-inch digital instrument cluster.

As for cabin comforts, the front seats need to be manually adjusted, the cubby space is small but enough, the steering wheel is a polygon, and the seats are wrapped in PVC leather. It is a simple car and you shouldn’t expect too much inside here.

In terms of safety, the Neta V unfortunately doesn’t come equipped with any advanced safety features. Passive safety features, however, are present. There’s ABS, ESC, traction control, and two airbags.

Included in the price of the car is a 5-year/150,000 km general warranty, an 8-year/180,000 km high voltage battery warranty, and a 10-year/200,000 km body warranty.
