2023 Neta V officially launched in Malaysia, RM100k – 380km range, optional body kit, V2L

After a long wait, the Neta V has finally been launched in Malaysia and it is one of the cheapest electric cars you can buy in the market right now. Prices start at RM100,000 on-the-road, without insurance. Its closest rival in terms of pricing for electric cars is the BYD Dolphin.

The Neta V had previously made its Malaysian debut at the Malaysia Auto Show 2023 and it was apparently a soft launch for the budget-friendly electric car. It is officially distributed by Intro Synergy and upon its launch this time around, it debuted with a new body kit.

Size-wise, the Neta V is a very small electric car although it is roughly in the ballpark figures of the Perodua Ativa’s dimensions. It sports a typical EV exterior design with its closed-off front-end and lack of an exhaust. One quirky thing about the Neta V would be its location of its side indicators which are placed on the wheel cladding.

Standard exterior equipment on the Neta V include 16-inch wheels, automatic halogen projector headlamps, LED daytime-running lights, and LED tail lights. With the latest public debut, the Neta V sports a body kit all around which helps improve the aesthetics ever so slightly.

Inside, the Neta V features a 14.6-inch portrait head unit and a 12-inch digital instrument cluster. Other interior highlights of the Neta V include the electronic parking brake (EPB), reverse camera, six-speaker sound system, and synthetic leather upholstery.

As for propulsion, the Neta V features a single electric motor on the front axle to deliver 70 kW (95 hp) and 150 Nm of torque. No century sprint times were provided, but the Chinese carmaker quotes a 0-50 km/h time of under 3.9 seconds, and a top speed of 120 km/h.

Its small size aside, the Neta V is able to drive up to 380 km (NEDC) thanks to a 38.5 kWh battery pack. To charge, the Neta V can handle a maximum AC charging rate of 6.6 kW and a maximum DC charging rate of 100 kW. The former takes 8 hours to fully charge the battery from flat while the latter takes 30 minutes to charge the battery from 30% to 80%. Interestingly, the Neta V is also capable of an optional vehicle-to-load (V2L) function at a rate of 3.3 kW.

Safety-wise, this small EV is not equipped with any advanced safety features but does get passive safety equipment like two airbags, automatic brake hold, hill start assist, hill descent control, tyre pressure monitoring system, passive cruise control, and your usual array of electronics including ABS, traction control, and ESC.

The Neta V is offered with two optional packages upon its launch:

  • EV Starter Package
  • Interest-free package

The EV Starter package includes a home charger (with installation), V2L, bodykit, auto tailgate, tint film, CO2 eliminator, and insurance. The interest-free package extends the financing tenure to 7 years, subject to terms and conditions.

Included in the price of the car is 5-year/150,000 km general warranty, an 8-year/180,000 km high voltage battery warranty, and a 10-year/200,000 km body warranty.
