Perodua has long been rumoured to unveil a new B-segment compact SUV, codenamed ‘D66B’, to sit above the Ativa in its model line-up. According to a recent sector update report issued by Kenanga Research, the model – said to be named Perodua Nexis – will be making its debut as soon as early next year.

Details about the upcoming D66B model still remains scarce, but it has been rumoured to be based off the ASEAN Toyota Yaris Cross, which was launched in Indonesia in June this year.

Like the Perodua Ativa and all-new Axia, as well as the fourth-generation Toyota Vios, the all-new Yaris Cross is also built atop the Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA) platform, offering enhanced handling and safety, while also allowing for new electrified powertrains underneath the bonnet.

Size wise, the ASEAN Toyota Yaris Cross measures 4,310 mm long, 1,770 mm wide, and 1,615 mm tall, and is underpinned by a 2,620 mm long wheelbase. This makes the B-segment SUV just slightly smaller than the Proton X50 and Honda HR-V.

Some of the equipment offered on the Yaris Cross in Indonesia include 17- and 18-inch alloys, LED lighting, electronic parking brake, a 10.1-inch infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, and even a panoramic glass roof on the range-topping S HV hybrid variant.
