Are your cars under active recall? 4,233 Nissan, Mercedes-Benz, Peugeot, Citroen, DS models affected


The Road Transport Department (JPJ) – published – yet another list of active vehicle product recalls in Malaysia. This is the third series published by JPJ this year, with the last recall list prior to this being published last month. The latest list of product recalls this time involves a total of 4,270 vehicles. 4,233 cars from brands such as Nissan, Mercedes-Benz, Peugeot, Citroen, and DS are affected this time. The remaining 37 units consist of a Honda motorcycle model and two truck models from MAN.

The Nissan model involved in this batch of recalls is the Nissan Leaf produced between 2019 and 2022. A total of 84 units are included in this recall.

As for Mercedes-Benz, models that are being recalled include the Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 4MATIC, produced between 2022 and 2023, involving a total of 55 units. A total of five units of the Mercedes-Benz EQS 450+ produced between 2021 and 2023, as well as 167 units of the EQS 500 4MATIC produced between 2007 and 2023 have also been included in the list.

Other Mercedes-Benz models included in the recall list consist of the Mercedes-Benz C 200, C 300, E 200, E 300, GLC 200, GLC 300 4MATIC, GLC 300 e 4MATIC, S 580 e, as well as the Maybach S 580 4MATIC, produced between 2021 and 2023. A total of 1,789 units are affected for these models listed.

As for the Citroen and DS models affected, we have covered it before when Bermaz Auto Alliance Sdn Bhd (BAASB) issued a recall for the Citroen C3, C4, as well as the DS3, DS4, and DS5 produced between 2009 and 2017. A total of 771 units are being affected in this recall, with the reason being faulty Takata airbags.

Another brand represented by BAASB – Peugeot has also been involved in this series of recalls. Peugeot models involved are the 208 and 2008 produced between 2017 and 2020, with a total of 1,262 units affected in total.

Just like the publishment of the previous recall list, JPJ did not include any specific reasons for the recalls in its Facebook post, with Citroen and DS models being the exception.

JPJ also emphasised that product recalls are conducted by car manufacturers with the aim of ensuring that the cars produced are safe to use by consumers and to prevent any risks of accidents from happening. Therefore, owners of the car models included in the list are highly encouraged to send their vehicles to service centres to have the affected parts changed.
