BYD to drop “Build Your Dreams” badging for European models, Dolphin not affected

“Build Your Dreams” – does this backronym ring a bell? That’s right, this is the script that is written across the back of BYD’s recent models such as the Atto 3, Seal, and Dolphin. And recently, the company has announced that it is dropping them from its cars in the European market, which includes the UK, according to a report from Auto Express.

This decision has been made in response to feedback from its customers towards the controversial badging for being lengthy. However, the removal will only apply to the higher-end Atto 3 and the Seal, and not the entry-level Dolphin. In fact, BYD Atto 3s that are being produced in Europe currently no longer come with the “Build Your Dreams” badge on their tailgates.

BYD European Customer Experience Manager, Tim Bryant has mentioned that as a response towards its customers’ feedback, the Seal that is planned for the European market will feature badging that is simpler and cleaner.

He said, “I’m pleased to say that we’ve listened to customer feedback and thanks to our rapid supply chains, Seal models for Europe will have discrete badging.”

BYD Seal

BYD first entered the UK market in March this year with the introduction of the Atto 3 EV SUV. The brand’s Seal sedan and Dolphin hatchback will also be entering the market soon.

Closer to home, both the BYD Atto 3 and the Dolphin that has just been launched in July still feature the “Build Your Dreams” badge on their tailgates. Despite BYD’s decision to remove them from their European Atto 3s as well as the Seal in the future, no such decision has been made for the Malaysian market at the present moment. This means that BYD models in our market will continue to wear the badge proudly, at least for the foreseeable future.
