Lotus Emeya EV teased ahead of September 7 debut, Taycan-rivalling electric hyper-GT

Remember the time when Lotus teased its arsenal of four upcoming electric cars? Well, after the debut of the Lotus Eletre (or the Type 132), Lotus has now revealed the name of its upcoming fully-electric saloon and it is the Lotus Emeya (or the Type 133). The Emeya will rival the likes of the Porsche Taycan.

To recap, back in September 2021, Lotus gave us a glimpse of its four electric cars, namely:

Keeping their mouth shut for the time being, Lotus has only released teaser images and videos of the upcoming Lotus Emeya. There are also hashtags, basically #emeya and #forthedrivers. At least from the hashtags, the Emeya name is confirmed once again and we can be assured that it will be a car built for those who enjoy driving.

In the short and sweet press release by Lotus, we can also confirm that the Lotus Emeya will make its world premiere on September 7, 2023. We can also confirm that is officially referred to as an “Electric Hyper-GT” by the company.

From the heavily shadowed images, we can at least tell what the headlight and taillight design will look like. The front end pretty much retains what was teased back in September 2021 with the stacked headlight cluster design. The slight reveal of the rear end shows the continuous LED light bar design for the taillights and a “LOTUS” lettering adorning it. Another thing we can see from the teaser images are the side view cameras on the Emeya.

No further details have been officially shared for the time being, so we guess we’ll have to wait until September 7. Closer to home, the Lotus Eletre is officially sold with a starting price of RM578,000 and with a range-topping price of RM789,000.
