Video: 2023 Lotus Eletre, 905hp electric Hyper-SUV from RM578k – 5 Things

The 2023 Lotus Eletre Hyper-SUV has been launched in Malaysia! Offered in three variants, prices start from RM578,000 for the Eletre, RM648,000 for the Eletre S, and max out at RM789,000 for the Eletre R.

Underneath the Lotus Eletre is Lotus’ all-new 800v Electric Premium Architecture (EPA) which uses aluminium and high-tensile steel for optimum structural rigidity. Size-wise, the Lotus Eletre is similar to the Lamborghini Urus and is marginally larger than the BMW iX.

Outside, the Eletre features Lotus’ ‘porosity’ design, which is claimed to improve aerodynamics and overall efficiency, giving the Eletre’s exterior a muscular look. 22-inch wheels come as standard for all Eletres, with optional 23-inch wheels and five designs available as well.

Other standard exterior features include Matrix LED headlamps, DRLs, side lights, fog lights, reverse lights, and a rear light strip. Welcome home lighting, powered hands-free tailgate, active front grille, heater washer jets, carbon fibre roof spoiler, Pirelli P-Zero tyres, lightweight brake discs, and six-piston callipers are included as well.

Choosing the Eletre S gets you auto-dimming mirrors, rear privacy glass, soft-close doors, and an active tailgate spoiler. The Eletre R even adds on Pirelli P-Zero CORSA performance tyres.

Performance-wise, all Eletres feature a dual-motor system with the Eletre and Eletre S mated with a single-speed gearbox, and the Eletre R with a dual-speed transmission. This results in an output of 603 hp and 710 Nm of torque for the Eletre and Eletre S, and a whopping 905 hp and 985 Nm for the Eletre R.

Despite different power outputs, all Eletres come with the same 112-kWh battery pack with a maximum DC charging rate of 350 kW and AC charging rate of 22 kW. DC charging takes 20 minutes to go from 10-80% with 350 kW charging, while AC charging takes 6-7 hours with 22 kW charging. With a full charge, the Eletre and Eletre S can deliver 600 km of WLTP range, while the Eletre R can deliver 490 km.

The Eletre S adds illuminated side sills, ambient lighting and 23 speakers, while the Eletre R adds stainless steel sport pedals and sports motor sound.

Lotus didn’t skimp on safety either, featuring deployable LIDAR technology, with complete Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). This includes Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), a driver monitoring system, Rear Collision Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Front Cross Traffic Alert (FCTA), Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning/Prevention (LKA+), Blind Spot Detection, Traffic Sign Information (TSI), Front and Rear Park Assist, Visual Park Assist and Lotus Intelligent Dynamic Chassis Control.
