Lotus Cars Malaysia, the sole franchise holder for Lotus in Malaysia has now opened bookings for the four-cylinder Lotus Emira i4 First Edition in Malaysia. It is now listed at a special price of RM998,800 (OTR without insurance). This special price is only available for cars made in 2023. Beyond that and when its actual price takes effect, it will cost RM1,095,000 in Peninsular Malaysia and RM509,000 in Langkawi.
The Lotus Emira i4 First Edition essentially debuts the second powertrain option for the lightweight sports car in Malaysia. The 2.0-litre inline-4 turbocharged engine is an alternative to the supercharged 3.5-litre V6 engine. The 4-cylinder mill churns out 365 hp (metric) and 430 Nm. Paired with an AMG-sourced 8-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT), the powertrain provides a 4.4-second 0-100 km/h acceleration time and a top speed of 290 km/h.

Like the V6, the inline-4 sits smack in the middle of the chassis and sends power to the rear wheels only. The car sports a double wishbone suspension setup at the front and rear with 20-inch wheels on all four corners. The Emira does sport a staggered setup with 295 mm tyres at the back and 245 mm tyres in front. The brakes are 4-piston brakes with 370 mm rotors in front and 350 mm rotors at the rear.
Looks-wise, the four-cylinder and six-cylinder Emira are pretty much identical on the outside and on the inside. To give you an idea of its size, the Emira measures 4,413 mm long, 1,895 mm wide, and 1,226 mm tall. Its wheelbase measures 2,575 mm long.

Setting the “First Edition” apart from its regular versions, the Emira Fi4 First Edition is equipped with four option packs as standard – Lower Black Pack, Design Pack, Convenience Pack, and Lotus Drivers Pack.
The Lower Black Pack adds gloss black accents to the roof, mirror pods, and the Lotus wordmark on the rear clamshell. It also includes a satin black finish for the exhaust tips. Meanwhile, the Design Pack adds privacy glass, sports pedals, a black Alcantara headliner, and Emira-branded footwell mats.
The Convenience Pack adds conveniences such as front parking sensors, a rear reversing camera, rain-sensing wipers with aero blades, auto-dimming mirrors, and a rear luggage storage net. And lastly, the Lotus Drivers Pack gives customers the option of the Tour or Sports suspension. For either option, it also includes Track Mode ESP, with a new Track mode highlighted on the TFT instrument display screen which prioritises information required for high-performance driving.

Inside, the Emira i4 First Edition features a flat-bottomed steering wheel, a 12.3-inch TFT instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch touchscreen head unit (with Wireless Apple CarPLay and Android Auto), a 560 W premium audio system, and 12-way power-adjustable heated seats.
The Lotus Emira i4 Edition is now open for booking with the deliveries expected to begin in November 2023.
