Mitsubishi’s upcoming HR-V rival teases new floating screen, Yamaha sound system

Mitsubishi Motors Corporation is set to unveil a new compact SUV at GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2023. The compact SUV by Mitsubishi will rival the likes of the Honda HR-V in the ASEAN region, although its name has yet to be confirmed.

Ahead of its debut, Mitsubishi has unveiled several details about the car including some glimpses of its exterior design through teaser videos and images. From what has been shared by Mitsubishi so far, the unnamed SUV boasts comfort, a spacious cabin, versatile storage spaces, a compact body size, and safe road handling, making it a “best-suited buddy for an exciting life”.

Considering how compact SUVs are utilized in the ASEAN region, Mitsubishi’s HR-V rival features characteristics that make it easily maneuverable, pretty much like the Mitsubishi Xpander. The compact SUV has a ground clearance of 222 mm, four driving modes (Normal, Wet, Gravel, and Mud), and Active Yaw Control (AYC). AYC improves control of the vehicle by adjusting the driving force on the front left and right wheels.

One key feature that Mitsubishi highlights for its new compact SUV is the Dynamic Sound Yamaha Premium Sound System. Co-developed with Yamaha, the sound system was designed to answer the needs of ASEAN customers. The main takeaway of the sound system is that it adjusts itself with the vehicle speed to deliver the best sound quality at any driving speed, even when driving on rough surfaces.
