The 2022 BMW X4 LCI (Life Cycle Impulse, as BMW refers to its facelifts) was first launched in Malaysia in February last year. Locally assembled, the G02 BMW X4 LCI is offered in a single variant – the xDrive30i M Sport, with a price tag of RM398,000 (OTR, without insurance).

For a facelift, the design changes BMW has done to the G02 BMW X4 LCI are rather subtle. Looking at its exterior, the 2022 BMW X4 LCI features a grille that is slightly larger than before, together with slightly slimmer adaptive LED headlights. Its light signature has also been reworked.

The rest of the exterior design changes are all thanks to the M sport exterior trims, which consist of the front and rear bumpers. The rear bumpers also feature a larger lower air intake with two vertical air intakes at the corners.

The 2022 BMW X4 LCI also comes with LED tail lights, a set of 20-inch M light alloy wheels, and free-form exhaust tips. The BMW X4 LCI is also offered in four exterior colour options, which include Alpine White, Piemont Red, Phytonic Blue, and Carbon Black.

Powering the 2022 BMW X4 xDrive30i M Sport LCI is essentially the same engine that was found in the pre-facelift model – the B48 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, which is paired with an 8-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission. Power is sent to all four wheels via BMW’s xDrive all-wheel drive system, and the luxury SUV produces a total of 245 hp and 350 Nm. The 0-100 km/h sprint can be done in under 6.6 seconds with the 2022 BMW X4 LCI and the top speed is rated at 235 km/h.

The bigger changes done to the BMW X4 LCI are on the inside. There is a new dashboard and centre console whose designs are borrowed from the G20 BMW 3 Series.

As for standard features found in the 2022 BMW X4, it includes a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment display with BMW Operating System 7.0 and over-the-air software updates, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster (BMW Live Cockpit Professional), and the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. Sports seats with Vernasca leather upholstery are offered in Black or Tacora Red colour options, and zinc-plated air vents design elements are also fitted as standard to the 2022 BMW X4 LCI.

In the safety department, the 2022 BMW X4 xDrive30i M Sport LCI is packed with the full suite of BMW’s Driving Assistant package. This package consists of safety features such as lane change warning (LCW), lane departure warning (LDW), front collision warning (FCW) with brake intervention (autonomous emergency braking), parking assistant, and reversing assistant.

The 2022 BMW X4 LCI comes standard with a manufacturer’s five-year unlimited mileage warranty, together with free scheduled maintenance programme, which can be opted out for a lower price. New owners also get access to the BMW Roadside Assitance and Accident Hotline, alongside the BMW Group Loyalty+ Mobile App and privileges card, as well as BMW Service Online.
