Video: 2023 Ford Ranger Raptor 2.0L Bi-Turbo Diesel at RM249k – 5 Things

The 2023 Ford Ranger Raptor is now available in Malaysia with a 2.0-litre bi-turbo diesel engine. Offered slightly cheaper than its twin-turbo V6 petrol sibling, the diesel Ranger Raptor is priced at RM248,888 in Malaysia.

The diesel Ranger Raptor features the same aggressive exterior design as its V6 sibling, featuring the huge FORD lettering on its grille, together with 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich all-terrain KO2 tyres. Other standard equipment the pickup truck gets includes flared wheel arches, Ford Performance scuff plates, as well as cast aluminium side steps.

Under the hood of the Ranger Raptor is essentially the same engine found in the outgoing last-gen Ranger Raptor, which makes 210 hp and 500 Nm. What’s similar as well is the 10-speed automatic gearbox with Selectfshift the diesel engine is paired to. However, the diesel pickup truck only gets rear locking differentials, unlike the front-and-rear locking units the V6 variant gets.

Ford has upgraded many parts of the drivetrain for this latest generation diesel Ranger Raptor. This includes the full-time all-wheel drive system and Terrain Management System software.

The signature Fox shock absorbers are here to stay, and it comes with the latest 2.5-inch internal bypass system. Filled with teflon-infused oil, it reduces friction by approximately 50% compared to the previous generation Raptor.

The Ford Raptor Diesel doesn’t come with the adaptive system which the V6 variant has as well, but Ford has enhanced the durability of the Ranger Raptor’s chassis. This is done by reinforcing it with model-specific parts on the pillars, bumper frames, shock towers, and suspension set-up.

The interior design of the diesel Range Raptor is also similar to its V6 sibling. Equipment that comes as standard includes the 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster, and the 12-inch touchscreen infotainment display which runs on the Ford Sync 4A software. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support are available too. Leather upholstery, magnesium paddle shifters, eight-speaker Bang and Olufsen sound system, and a wireless charging pad are also among the equipment that comes standard.

In the safety department, the 2023 Ford Ranger 2.0L Bi-Turbo Diesel is completed with the suite of active driver assistance features also found in its V6 counterpart. This consists of autonomous emergency braking (AEB), adaptive cruise control (ACC) with stop-and-go functions, lane centring, blind-spot monitor, reverse brake assist, evasive steer assist, rear cross-traffic alert (RCTA), and a 360-degree surround monitor with off-road views.
