2023 Ford Ranger Raptor to be offered with 2.0L Bi-Turbo Diesel in Malaysia, launching next month

We loved the 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 engine in the all-new Ford Ranger Raptor so much that we included it in our #ABC2022 AutoBuzz.my Best Cars line-up last year. But let’s be honest – a large chunk of Raptor buyers will never need the performance of that V6. So for that group of buyers, Sime Darby Auto Connexion (SDAC) is now introducing a new 2.0L Bi-Turbo Diesel option for the Ford Ranger Raptor here in Malaysia, and is set to arrive on our shores on June 8, 2023.

The new variant will adopt the existing powertrain from the previous-generation Ranger Raptor, consisting of a 2.0-litre twin-turbocharged inline-four diesel mill with 210 hp and 500 Nm of torque, and a 10-speed automatic gearbox.

Power is sent to all four wheels via an all-time all-wheel drive system with a Raptor-exclusive Baja drive mode. Performance figures aren’t available just yet, but expect it to be quite a bit slower than the petrol V6 variant, given its lower performance figures. When the V6 was unveiled, Ford says that it’s “almost twice as fast” as the previous generation, so take that as you will…

Raw grunt aside, you fortunately won’t be missing out on what makes the Raptor, a Raptor; the new diesel variant will still ride on the Ford Performance-tuned adaptive Fox shocks on all four corners, featuring the brand’s latest 2.5-inch Live Valve dampers with Teflon-infused oil.

The new dampers are also paired to a new toughened chassis, with additional structural reinforcements including beefier shock towers and brackets to handle the extra stress load when you’re jumping over sand dunes.

SDAC hasn’t announced pricing information for the new 2.0L Bi-Turbo Diesel variant just yet, but expect to see some discounts here due to its smaller (and shared) engines. For context, the V6-powered Ford Ranger Raptor is priced at RM259,888 here in Malaysia. What won’t be discounted is its brawny looks, which is what this crowd is buying the car for anyway.

Interested? The new 2.0L Bi-Turbo Diesel variant will on display at the MRANTI Open Space area opposite Pavilion Bukit Jalil from 9-11 June 2023, as part of its official launch event. Customers can also take part in a test-drive experience that covers tarmac, dirt, and rocky terrains.

For the first 300 bookings of the all-new 2023 Ford Ranger Raptor Bi-Turbo 2.0L Diesel here in Malaysia, SDAC will be giving away a complimentary Kenwood DRV-A700W dashcam system, consisting of a Wide-Quad HD (WQHD) front camera, and a full HD 1080p rear camera for dual channel recording, plus a RM500 discount on one of its Ford Ranger Getaways events in the future.

Following the launch, the new Ford Ranger Raptor will also be going on tour with the Ford Experience Hub to the northern and southern regions of Peninsular Malaysia, as well as Sabah and Sarawak.
