Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia sold 24,315 cars in FY2022, up 27% from previous year



Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM), the official distributor of Mitsubishi Motors vehicles in Malaysia continued its sales trend on an upward trajectory after closing Financial Year 2022 (April 2022 – March 2023) with 24,315 units sold. This is 27% more vehicles sold compared to the same time last financial year.

The company managed to capture a market share of 3.2% as well, allowing it to retain its top-three spot in the non-national automotive sales table. This is also MMM’s historical high sales achievement since its inception in 2005.


MMM’s top seller, the Mitsubishi Xpander remains Malaysia’s most popular non-national MPV with 13,794 units sold and has contributed 57% to the company’s overall total sales. This is a 52.2% increase compared to the same period in FY2021.

The Mitsubishi Triton pick-up truck also had a sales growth of 12% compared to the financial year before. With 10,520 units sold, the Triton maintained a solid market share of 18% and is currently a strong number two in the pick-up truck segment.

“The Triton and Xpander have been a catalyst for our sales growth in Financial Year 2022. In ending a successful financial year, we will continue to focus on improving customer purchase and service experience to meet the evolving needs of our customers, assuring a seamless experience,” said Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia Chief Executive Officer, Shinya Ikeda.

“On the global front, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) recently premiered the Mitsubishi XRT, the concept car of the all-new Triton at the 44th Bangkok International Motor Show 2023. For the upcoming Asia Cross Country Rally 2023, Team Mitsubishi Ralliart plans to compete with a prototype cross-country model of the all-new Triton in its quest for a second straight victory,” Shinya Ikeda added.

MMM’s CEO also mentioned that the company will not only be participating in rallies with the new Triton models but also with other Mitsubishi models as well. The company is optimistic about its future as a brand and its presence in Malaysia.
