BMW iX1 xDrive30 ROI opens for Malaysia – 440km range, 313hp dual-motor

BMW Malaysia may soon expand its all-electric lineup with the BMW iX1 xDrive30. The BMW iX1 has now appeared on BMW Malaysia’s official website and registration of interest (ROI) for the car is now open.

The BMW iX1 is a fully electric car that was introduced together with the all-new X1 back in June last year. Currently, the iX1 is only available in one guise, which is the iX1 xDrive30. As such, the specifications listed on BMW Malaysia’s website reflect that.

Powering the BMW iX1 is a dual-motor setup that makes 230 kW (313 hp) and 494 Nm. The drivetrain consists of BMW’s 5th-generation eDrive technology. Both motors in the iX1 are permanent magnet synchronous motors. The BMW iX1 xDrive30 does 0-100 km/h in 5.6 seconds onward to an electronically limited top speed of 180 km/h.

As for battery and range, the BMW iX1 xDrive30 houses a 64.7-kWh lithium-ion battery pack that provides up to 440 km of range (WLTP). As standard, the BMW iX1 xDrive30 can handle a maximum charging rate of 11 kW with AC charging and 130 kW with DC charging.

11-kW AC charging will charge the car from 0 to 100% in 6.5 hours. 130-kW DC charging will charge the car from 10% to 80% in 29 minutes. Interestingly, the iX1 can be fitted with a 22-kW AC onboard charger (OBC). Its details, however, are not shared on BMW Malaysia’s website.

Size-wise, the BMW iX1 measures 4,500 mm long, 1,845 mm wide, and 1,616 mm tall. The car’s wheelbase measures 2,692 mm long. Like the all-new X1, the iX1 gets slim LED headlights and an almost-square kidney grille design. Inside, the iX1 features a curved display setup which consists of a 10.25-inch information display and a 10.7-inch control display. More information on the BMW iX1 for Malaysia will be available upon launch.
