2023 Peugeot 2008 SE launched in Malaysia – adds RM2,900 in accessories

As if not unique enough in the Malaysian market, there is now a special version of the Peugeot 2008, called the Peugeot 2008 Special Edition (SE). Just launched today, the Peugeot 2008 SE costs an additional RM2,900 more than the ‘Allure’ variant.

For the record, the Peugeot 2008 ‘Allure’ costs RM134,103 (OTR without insurance and without accessories). Optional accessories for the Allure variant include a hands-free power tailgate which costs RM2,100 and a P-URE Performance tint which costs RM1,900. The SE Accessories will cost an additional RM2,900 (inclusive of installation).

The Peugeot 2008 SE can only be purchased in two body colours – Orange Fusion and Pearl White. The SE accessories package adds on:

  • Black front bumper garnish
  • Black rear bumper garnish
  • Black side bumper garnish (left & right)
  • Piano black rims
  • Vehicle decals
  • SE badges

It is essentially a chrome delete of the 2008 Allure’s trims, replacing the chrome trims with matte black trims instead. Even the dual-tone 17-inch alloy wheels from the Allure are now finished in piano black.

While the chrome has been dialled down, the 2008 SE gets a splash of red and black decals. These can be seen on the car’s hood and sides.

The SE accessories package only entails the exterior of the car and doesn’t find its way into the cabin and engine bay. All else, the Peugeot 2008 SE shares the same specifications as the Allure variant.

Like the Allure, under the hood of the 2008 SE is a 1.2-3-cylinder turbocharged engine. The engine makes 130 hp at 5,500 rpm and 230 Nm at 1,750 rpm. Paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission, power is sent to the front wheels only. It gets ventilated disc brakes in front and solid disc brakes in the rear. As for suspension, the car gets a MacPherson strut setup at the front and a torsion beam setup in the back.

Essentially a cosmetic package, the SE accessories package comes with a 1-year/20,000 km Peugeot Genuine Accessory Warranty based on the period of fitment at the time of new vehicle purchase. Those interested in the Peugeot 2008 SE can already make their bookings now. Deliveries are expected to begin by end of April.
