2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC teased – all-new model to launch in Malaysia next week?

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has once again taken to its social media platforms to tease the arrival of what looks like a new model. More specifically, the darkened photo looks exactly like the headlights of the all-new X254-generation 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC.

With a caption inviting its customers to a test-drive event at Plaza Arkadia, Desa ParkCity on the 8th and 9th April, could the all-new 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC be launched here in Malaysia next week? Well, we’ll let you decide for yourselves.

The X254-generation Mercedes-Benz GLC made its global debut back in June last year, with a mostly evolutionary design update, but a fairly important change underneath the sheet metal – it’s now only offered with electrified powertrains.

On the petrol-powered end, there’s the Mercedes-Benz GLC 200 and GLC 300. Both of these variants are powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-four engine, paired to a 48V integrated starter-generator (ISG) motor for a mild hybrid (MHEV) set-up – the latter providing an additional 23 hp and 200 Nm of boost momentarily when needed.

In terms of outputs, the base GLC 200 offers 204 hp and 320 Nm, while the GLC 300 gets 258 hp and 400 Nm. Both variants get the marque’s 4Matic all-wheel drive system and a nine-speed automatic gearbox as standard.

Globally, the all-new Mercedes-Benz GLC will also be offered with two plug-in hybrid variants, namely the GLC 300e and GLC 400e. They both also build off the same 2.0-litre turbocharged mill, but are paired to a gearbox-mounted electric motor that provides 136 hp and 440 Nm of torque. Combined, the GLC 300e boasts a total system output of 313 hp and 550 Nm, while the GLC 400e takes it up a notch at 381 hp and 650 Nm.

If – or rather when – the all-new 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC makes its way over to Malaysia, the most obvious variants to be introduced here in Malaysia are the two MHEVs. However, with the launch of the GLC 300e Coupe here last year, we could possibly see the all-new Mercedes-Benz GLC 300e 4Matic making an appearance here in Malaysia too.
