Toyota GR86 10th Anniversary Edition celebrates a decade of the 86 in Australia

Toyota in Australia has unveiled the GR86 10th Anniversary Edition to commemorate a decade since the first-generation GT86 was launched Down Under. Only 86 units of the limited-run GR86 will be available, starting from AUD$46,700 (RM139k).

There are no performance upgrades on the GR86 10th Anniversary Edition, with 237 hp (174 kW) and 250 Nm of torque from a 2.4-litre naturally aspirated flat-four Boxer engine, paired with either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission.

“The 10th Anniversary Edition reflected the popularity of the driver-focused sports car in Australia. When it launched in 2012, the first-generation GT86 struck a chord with those looking for an affordable sports car with Toyota reliability,” the company said.

The 86 units of the GR86 10th Anniversary are finished with Solar Orange paintwork, a tribute to the first-generation GT86 first revealed in 2011. The orange theme is also adopted inside, with contrast stitching on the steering wheel, handbrake lever, seats and door trims.

The 10th Anniversary is also marked with embroidery on the door trims while the seats feature orange accents. Lastly, the silver moulding on the instrument panel moulding has been changed to black for a more sinister look.

The GR86 is now available in Malaysia for RM295,000 for the six-speed manual variant, while the automatic variant starts from RM305,000. With that, the GR86 comes with a five-year unlimited-mileage warranty.

Standard equipment includes a seven-inch multi-info display, an eight-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control and manual seats for weight saving and a limited-slip differential on the rear axle.
