Gallery: CKD Mercedes-Benz C 300 AMG Line, from RM 332k

Unveiled for Malaysia in February this year as a fully-imported unit (CBU), the locally-assembled (CKD) version of the W206 Mercedes-Benz C-Class was launched in August. Offered in two variants, the C 200 Avantgarde Line fetches a price of RM 287,888 while the C 300 AMG Line, which we have here, is priced at RM 331,542.

A new design language sculpts the look of the W206 Mercedes-Benz C-Class, in line with the new S-Class and the facelifted E-Class. Overall, the C-Class has more aggressive features than its predecessor.

An AMG Line exterior body kit adorns the Mercedes-Benz C 300 and the car sits on a set of 19-inch AMG multi-spoke wheels. Illuminating the way is a set of LED High-Performance headlights with adaptive high-beam assist that is also standard on the C 200. Spicing things up on the front end of the C 300 is a “Mercedes-Benz pattern grille” with the star design mesh finished in chrome. The C 300 also gets a panoramic sunroof.

Powering the Mercedes-Benz C 300 AMG Line is a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes 258 hp and 400 Nm. The engine is part of a 48V mild hybrid system. Paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission, the Mercedes-Benz C 300 launches from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.0 seconds.

In case you were wondering, the C 200 also gets a 48V mild hybrid system but gets a smaller engine that makes 204 hp and 300 Nm. Also paired with a nine-speed automatic gearbox, the C 200 does the century sprint in 7.3 seconds.

Inside, the C300 gets digitalised with an 11.9-inch portrait central touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The portrait infotainment system with MBUX supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity, without the clutter of wires.

Also featured on the inside of the W206 C-Class are a fingerprint scanner, a wireless charging pad, an automatic climate control system, ambient lighting, and augmented-reality navigation. Both front seats are power-adjustable with memory function and four-way lumbar support, and the interior is generally upholstered in Artico man-made leather.

Extra bits on the C 300 that the C 200 doesn’t get are AMG Line goodies that include the sportier flat-bottom steering wheel, Sports seats, a variant-exclusive metal weave trim, and AMG floor mats.

Safety-wise, standard features on the W206 Mercedes-Benz C-Class include Active Lane Keeping and Lane Tracking Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, Active Brake Assist, and Active Parking Assist with Parktronic. The C 300 AMG Line adds on an additional 360-degree surround-view camera (the C 200 only gets a reverse camera).

Included in the RM 331,542 price tag of the locally assembled Mercedes-Benz C 300 AMG Line is a 2+2 year unlimited-mileage warranty.
