Audi RS Q8 launched in Malaysia from RM 1.7m – in case the Urus is too flashy for you

PHS Automotive, the official distributor of Audi in Malaysia has just launched the Audi RS Q8 for the Malaysian market. Fetching a price of RM 1,699,990, the RS Q8 is the more reserved cousin of the Lamborghini Urus.

Powered by a 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, the Audi RS Q8 produces a maximum power output of 600 hp and a maximum torque of 800 Nm. Previously the fastest SUV around the Nürburgring Nordschleife (now beaten by the Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT), the RS Q8 accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds. The top speed is 305 km/h.

Naturally for an Audi, the RS Q8 is equipped with the brand’s Quattro permanent all-wheel drive (AWD) system with a quattro sport differential and wheel-selective torque control. The active torque vectoring improves traction, stability, and dynamics.

Adjusting the RS Q8’s ride to suit the road, track, or offroad trails is the RS-specific adaptive air suspension sport with controlled damping. The RS-specific damper tuning allows for a broad spread between a ride geared towards comfort and an extremely sporty one. Minimising the body roll is the electromechanical active roll stabilisation (EAWS) system.

With Audi Drive Select, the driver can select between eight driving profiles – “Comfort”, “Auto”, “Dynamic”, “Efficiency”, “All Road”, “Off Road”, “RS1”, and “RS2”. Both “RS1” and “RS2” are RS-specific modes which are individually configurable. Standard on the RS Q8 is the RS brake system with internally vented composite discs in front and ceramic discs at the rear.

Appearance wise, the Audi RS Q8 is a toned-down version of the Lamborghini Urus. At its front is a carbon and honeycomb grille protecting an RS-specific radiator. Over the normal Q8, the RS Q8 adds on RS-specific trim strips in the body colour widen the body by 10 mm up front and 5 mm in the rear, providing space for the more generous track. Also featured are a roof edge spoiler and black Audi emblems.

Lighting the way is the RS Matrix LED headlights that showcase an expressive RS-specific animation when the car is locked or unlocked. Flanking the headlights and taillights are dynamic turn signals.
