All-new 2022 Ford Everest teased for Malaysia – to launch on 23 September

Only about a month after the launch of the 2022 Ford Ranger, Sime Darby Auto Connexion (SDAC) has now teased the all-new 2022 Ford Everest for Malaysia. Only one mystery image has been shared by the Malaysian Ford distributor, telling us to “save the date” for September 23, 2022, for the launch of the new Everest.

Like how the Fortuner and Pajero are related to the Hilux and Triton, the Everest is built on the same platform as the Ranger. And like the all-new Ranger, the 2022 Ford Everest sports the same C-Clamp headlight design as seen in the teaser image shared by SDAC.

Unveiled globally in March this year, the Ford Everest has already made its debut in Thailand in several variants, including a 2.0L Turbo Sport 4X2 6AT and a 2.0L Bi-Turbo Titanium+ 4X4 10AT. In Thailand, the Ford Everest fetches a price of 1.464 million baht (approx. RM183,230) for the Sport variant and 1.854 million baht (approx. RM232,000) for the Titanium variant.

Both the single-turbo and bi-turbo diesel engines offered in the Thai-spec Everest are already available in the Malaysian version of the 2022 Ford Ranger, so we are expecting to see the same powertrains to be used on the Malaysian-spec Everest as well. The single turbo engine produces 170 hp and 405 Nm, while the bi-turbo engine produces 210 hp and 500 Nm.

Inside the cabin, the Thai-spec Ford Everest is equipped with either a 12-inch or a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment unit depending on the variant. Advanced safety features in the Thai-spec Everest include daptive cruise control (ACC) with stop and go, lane-keeping assist (LKA) and lane departure warning (LDW), blind spot detection (BSD), forward collision warning (FCW) with brake support, Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) with pedestrian detection, rear cross-traffic alert (RCTA) and evasive steer assist.

The 2022 Ford Everest for Malaysia is likely to be equipped just as well.
