GoEV users can now access ChargEV chargers directly from the GoCar app

GoCar Malaysia has announced a new collaboration with Green EV Charge – a joint venture between Yinson Green Technologies and GreenTech Malaysia – to “enhance EV charging convenience across the country”.

The collaboration will see the ChargEV mobile platform being integrated directly into the GoCar mobile app, enabling GoCar members and other EV users to gain easier access to the ChargEV charging stations, which now boasts over 400 locations nationwide.

At the moment, the integration of the platform will allow GoCar app users to view locations, availability, and the types of chargers on the ChargEV network. The companies say that future capabilities will also include pre-booking an EV charger, scheduling a recharge, making payments, and monitoring of the charging progress.

The collaboration with Green EV Charge is the latest in GoCar’s ongoing efforts to expand the accessibility of EVs to more Malaysians. Aside from ChargEV, the company also recently teamed up with EV Connection to provide its users with access to charging stations on the JomCharge network.

GoCar has also recently expanded its GoEV sharing and subscription service‘s vehicle line-up, which now includes the Nissan Leaf and Hyundai Kona Electric (in E-Max and E-Lite guises). The company is targetting to increase its EV fleet to more than 100 vehicles by the end of 2022.

With GoEV, GoCar members can experience driving an EV for an hour, a day, or even up to three years (via GoEV Subs). Based on its own data collected to date, over 90% of its regular users were actually first-time EV users!

On a related note, ChargEV has also announced that its chargers are now available to non-paying members on a pay-per-use basis. The updated app now displays charger availability in real time, alongside the pay-per-use fees for non-paying members.
