Gentari, JomCharge, chargEV launch EV Roaming Network – Only one app needed to cover 600 chargers

Charging your electric car in Malaysia has now been made simpler thanks to the latest collaboration between Gentari, JomCharge, and chargEV. Launched at Energy Asia 2023, the “EV Roaming Network” between these three charge point operators means that you only need one of the three apps (Setel, JomCharge, ChargEV) to cross-access their chargers. Eventually, you will be able to access a network of 600 chargers nationwide through one app only.

The EV Roaming Network comes as no surprise as the three parties signed an agreement back in March to enable the EV roaming network. Immediately during the launch today, all three apps were updated to accommodate the changes.

To ensure that you can view the roaming network availability on the three respective mobile applications, make sure to update the apps to their latest versions. With each of the apps, you can now cross-access the charge points, activate, pay, and charge instantly for Gentari, JomCharge, and chargEV EV chargers.

The partnership is for the greater good of EV adoption. Gentari does partly own JomCharge, but the collaboration with chargEV purely serves to push for EV adoption. Upon its launch today, the cross-charging is already available at four locations during its first phase, namely

  • X Park Sunway Serene
  • Berjaya Times Square
  • Suria KLCC
  • Four Seasons Hotel Kuala Lumpur

Only in its first phase for the time being, the cross-access network will expand to 600 chargers from Gentari, JomCharge, and chargEV in stages. Also showcased at Energy Asia 2023 are Gentari’s achievements in the renewable energy sector as well as its plans for a sustainable future. Visitors of the expo can also check out a BMW iX which is part of the company’s “vehicle as a service program”. A mock DC charging station and the company’s home charging solution are also on display.
