2022 Proton Saga facelift gets push-start and keyless entry – official launch tomorrow!

We’re less than 24 hours away from the official launch of the 2022 Saga facelift, and Proton has again provided us with yet another teaser on its social media channels – this time showing off the model’s new push-start button.

“Are you ready to push towards a new dawn?” the caption reads. “The new Proton Saga unleashes new features and designs that will make your new ride an Intelligent Proposition!” Zero points for guessing the new tagline for the facelift model.

The 2022 Proton Saga facelift will mark the first time that the push-start and keyless entry systems are being offered on the entry-level sedan. While not a major must-have item, the addition of the keyless systems will significantly improve the ownership and driving experience thanks to the added convenience.

Aside from the push-start button, Proton has also published a separate teaser of the 2022 Saga facelift’s new body kit. It’s been rumoured that the body kit – which consists of a front splitter and side skirts – will only be offered on the range-topping variant. However, the push-start button’s variant availability is unknown at the moment.

Further information will have to wait until the 2022 Proton Saga’s official launch tomorrow, which will be livestreamed on the company’s Facebook page at 9.45 am. However, we do know that the new Saga facelift will come with a few exterior tweaks, including a new set of two-tone 15-inch alloy-wheels for the range-topping variant, as well as red accents underneath the front grille.

As for the interior, recent rumours and spyshots have revealed that the 2022 Proton Saga facelift will also get a slightly reworked dashboard, with red-trimmed air vents, new digital air-conditioning control panel, as well as new graphics on the seven-inch touchscreen infotainment display.

No changes are expected for the mechanicals, however, with the 2022 Proton Saga facelift retaining the same 1.3-litre inline-four engine, making 95 hp and 120 Nm. Power is sent to the front wheels as before, via a four-speed Hyundai-sourced automatic gearbox.
