A quick check on Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia’s (VPCM) website revealed that the company has quietly updated the pricing for the new 2022 Volkswagen Arteon R-Line 4Motion, roughly seven months after the facelift’s launch here in Malaysia.
The fastback sedan now costs over RM9,000 dearer compared to when it was first launched here, pushing its pricing up to RM258,019 on the road, without insurance, and inclusive of the ongoing SST exemptions until the 30th of June 2022 (100% here, as the model is locally assembled in Malaysia).
Aside from the pricing update, however, it seems like the rest of its spec sheet remains unchanged from before. Underneath the bonnet is a 2.0-litre turbocharged TSI engine and seven-speed wet dual-clutch DSG gearbox providing motivation to all four wheels, with 280 hp and 350 Nm on tap translating to a century sprint time of just 5.6 seconds.
Standard kit also remains completely identical to the launch car, including the full R-Line exterior package, 19-inch two-tone alloy wheels, and full LED lighting on the exterior. The cabin meanwhile comes equipped with an 11.7-inch digital instrument cluster, 9.2-inch Discover Pro touchscreen infotainment display with Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, powered Nappa leather ErgoComfort seats, and a 700W Harman Kardon premium sound system as standard.

Unfortunately, an unchanged equipment list also means that the 2022 Volkswagen Arteon R-Line facelift here in Malaysia also continues to miss out on basic ADAS features such as autonomous emergency braking. It does, however, come with new rear cross-traffic alert feature, alongside blind-spot alert (Side Assist), and lane departure alert and assist system.
Included in the price is still an unchanged five-year unlimited mileage warranty, alongside a three-year free maintenance package and five years of roadside assistance. In related news, the Volkswagen Passat Elegance has also recently been updated with a mild price increase, although that includes actual equipment changes.
