Volkswagen updates interior & exterior of 2022 Passat Elegance

Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia has updated the 2022 Passat Elegance with several new additions on the inside and out.

On the exterior, the 2022 Passat Elegance gets a new pair of kicks – with the new 18-inch “Bonneville” wheels replacing the “Liverpool” multi-spoke wheel from before. The previous “Liverpool” wheels are also 18-inch in size.

In the cabin, the 2022 Passat Elegance joins the facelift Arteon and the recently updated Passat R-Line to feature a touch-sensitive control panel for its 3-zone air conditioning system.

Button-free: The new touch-sensitive air-con control panel.

These three are the only models to feature the new air-con panel; even the new Tiguan Allspace does not come with the touch-sensitive panel. The feature will also be present in the soon-to-be-launched Volkswagen Golf Mk.8 this week.

Aside from the new air-con control panel, the 2022 Passat Elegance will also feature wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, through its 9.2-inch infotainment system.

Mechanically, nothing has changed with no increase in power. The Passat Elegance still makes 190 hp and 320 Nm from a 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine, paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The more powerful Passat R-Line model, with a 6-speed dual-clutch gearbox, produces 220 hp and 350 Nm.

Like the facelift Arteon and the new Golf which will be launched in Malaysia this week, the Passat Elegance is finished with the new Volkswagen badges and is priced higher than before at RM183,680 – an RM801 increase from before. The recently updated Passat R-Line, on the hand, goes for RM212,939 – an RM8,506 increase.
