BMW Malaysia has revealed the second batch of limited-edition, locally-assembled BMW X5 PHEVs with M Performance parts. The first batch of limited-edition BMW X5 with M Performance Parts was revealed at Auto Bavaria dealerships last year. The limited-edition model is based on the X5 xDrive45e PHEV.
The new batch will be priced at RM480,800 each and is limited to just 22 units. The standard X5 xDrive45e PHEV M Sport launched in 2020 is priced at RM440,745. Each purchase is accompanied by complimentary gifts worth RM22,000.
The BMW M Performance Parts package is priced at RM36,000 and it includes:
- Gloss black front grille
- Carbon fibre side mirror caps
- 20-inch Star Spoke style 748M
As for the complimentary gifts worth RM22,000, they include:
- BMW umbrella
- BMW leather care set
- BMW brake pad & disc voucher
- Luxury suitcase
- STOKKE reusable ceramic cup
While it may be a follow-up to the previous batch of limited-edition BMW X5 from last year, both editions appear to be quite different. They still share the same wheel design and carbon fibre side mirror caps, but the 1st batch had a chrome grille instead. The first batch also had winglets by the edges of the front and rear bumper.
According to Sime Darby, Auto Bavaria, Managing Director, Mr. Vi Thim Juan, the popularity of the limited edition unit is attributed to the M Performance parts, as these parts not only enhance the look of the vehicle but also add to the vehicle’s aerodynamics.
“30 units from the first batch of limited-edition BMW X5 M Performance sold out within one week at Auto Bavaria dealerships last year as the vehicles were extremely limited, offered more dynamic and sporty appeal matched with an already best-in-class product offering in terms of design, technology, comfort, and performance,” he added.
