Honda Malaysia announces pricing for City Hatchback RS e:HEV variant – RM107,783

Following the launch of the all-new City Hatchback last year, Honda Malaysia has now finally announced the pricing for the range-topping RS e:HEV variant at RM107,783.09.

The pricing above is on-the-road, without insurance, and inclusive of the sales tax exemption, which means it’ll be valid until the June 30, 2022. With that, pricing for the entire Honda City Hatchback line-up is as follows:
1.5 S – RM75,670
1.5 E – RM83,080
1.5 V – RM87,860
1.5 RS e:HEV – RM107,783

For roughly RM20,000 more than the 1.5 V variant, the Honda City Hatchback 1.5 RS e:HEV gets a unique hybrid powertrain consisting of a 1.5-litre engine and an electric motor for a total system output of 109 hp and 253 Nm of torque. However, unlike most hybrid systems, the engine on the e:HEV does not usually drive the wheels directly.

Propulsion is supplied by the electric motor for the most part, with the engine only driving the wheels directly via the lock-up clutch during high-speed cruising, as it is more efficient than the electric motors at that wheel speed.

The rest of the Honda City Hatchback line-up, meanwhile, gets a new naturally-aspirated 1.5 litre i-VTEC engine that makes 121 hp and 145 Nm of torque, with drive sent to the front wheels via a CVT gearbox.

Aside from the powertrain, the Honda City Hatchback RS e:HEV variant also receives several exclusive items to make it stand out from the others. These include:

  • 16-inch alloy wheels
  • Gloss-black front grille and door mirrors
  • RS-exclusive front grille mesh
  • RS rear bumper
  • Electronic parking brake
  • 7-inch semi-digital instrument cluster
  • Rear air-cond vents
  • “Ultrasuede” upholstery

Also included on the RS variant is the full suite of Honda Sensing advanced driver assist features, which includes:

  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
  • Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)
  • Forward Collision Warning (FCW)
  • Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS)
  • Road Departure Mitigation (RDM)
  • Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
  • Auto High-Beam (AHB)

According to Honda Malaysia MD and CEO Madoka Chujo, the all-new City Hatchback has received overwhelming response from Malaysians since its launch in December last year. To date, the company has collected more than 5,200 bookings for the B-segment hatchback.

“We are confident that the All-New City Hatchback RS e:HEV will set the benchmark in the market with its complete package of stylish RS exterior, e:HEV powertrain, Honda Sensing and advanced telematics Honda Connect. It will be an attraction to customers, especially the younger audience,” she added.
