Video: 2021 BMW 530i facelift now available in Malaysia, 5 Things

The executive sedan segment here in Malaysia has historically always been a death match between the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and the BMW 5 Series, with both of them trading blows one after another. Now that Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the E-Class facelift, BMW Malaysia is now hitting back with the launch of the updated BMW 5 Series, headlined by this 530i M Sport variant.

So what’s new from the Munich camp? Well, watch on to find out!

On the outside, the new BMW 5 Series is characterised by its much more modern appearance, thanks to the slimmed down headlights with the dual L-shaped daytime-running lights, alongside a new three-dimensional tail light cluster.

The BMW 530i in Malaysia is dressed in the M Sport exterior package, which includes sportier bumpers, the twin trapezoidal exhaust exits, and 19-inch two-tone Y-spoke M light alloy wheels. And because it’s the range-topping variant, it also comes equipped with the BMW fancier Laserlight headlights.

Inside, the new BMW 5 Series comes with a new BMW Live Cockpit Professional set-up that consists of a two 12.3-inch displays acting as the digital instrument cluster and central infotainment display, head-up display, slightly modified M leather steering wheel, and a darker aluminium trim on the dashboard.

Everything else is identical to the pre-facelift model, including the sport powered front seats in black leather upholstery, panoramic sunroof, four-zone automatic climate control, a wireless charging pad, and a Harman Kardon surround sound system.

Also unchanged is the engine underneath the bonnet – the two-litre turbocharged inline-four engine makes 252 hp and 350 Nm of torque, with power sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox. Century sprint time is rated at 6.4 seconds, onward to a top speed of 250 km/h.
