Honda City Hatchback RS coming soon to Malaysia!

Normalcy is certainly coming back to Malaysia, as more and more product launches are being scheduled.

The latest car to hit the social media pages is Honda Malaysia and the new Honda City Hatchback! The company posted a short teaser video on their Facebook page portraying a red City Hatchback.

Pausing the video reveals it’s an RS e:HEV variant, the range-topping hybrid variant of the all-new Honda City range in ASEAN.

Our neighbours in Thailand and Indonesia have already launched the City Hatchback as a replacement to the beloved Honda Jazz. In Thailand, the same Honda City Hatchback RS e:HEV is quite an expensive product even after factoring in generous incentives, approximately RM3k separating it and the entry-level Honda Civic 1.8 (FC).

To recap, the Honda e:HEV hybrid system combines a 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine with an electric motor, with the latter primarily driving the car. The engine will be used as a generator or supplement extra power when needed, such as overtaking. The combined system output is 109 hp and 253 Nm.

Claimed performance figures on the Honda City sedan RS e:HEV, priced at RM105,950, are 0 to 100 km/h in 9.9 seconds whilst delivering ultra-low fuel consumption of just 3.6 litres per 100 km.

Being entirely based on the latest, seventh-generation Honda City (GN), the City Hatchback model shares the same front design, front doors as well as dashboard of the sedan, similar to what Toyota did to the Toyota Vios (NSP151) to create the ASEAN Toyota Yaris.

For reference, the outgoing Honda Jazz (GK) is priced at a range from RM72,512 to RM84,956, with the short-lived Jazz Hybrid i-DCCD available from RM75,000.

We will keep updating the website as we receive more information on the new Honda City Hatchback. It is indeed good to be heading towards normalcy!
